Agadir Airport arrival guide: from landing to driving away

Al Massira is a calm, single-terminal airport about 25 km from Agadir. This guide walks through the hour after you land, the drive to your hotel and the trip back, so nothing catches you out.

Before you fly

  • Add your flight number to your booking. We follow the flight and adjust the meeting time if it lands early or late.
  • Save our WhatsApp number. It is the quickest way to reach the person meeting you.
  • Download an offline map of the Agadir region. Mobile data from home can be expensive in Morocco.
  • Pack your driving licence and passport in your hand luggage, not in the hold.
  • The dirham is a closed currency, so you normally can't buy it before you travel. Plan to get cash after landing.

Landing, passport control and bags

After you leave the plane you go through passport control, then collect your bags and walk through customs. On a quiet evening this takes 20 minutes. When several flights from Europe land together, mostly on weekend afternoons in winter, the passport queue alone can take longer, so don't worry if you are slow to come out: we know where your flight is.

Keep the address of your first night to hand. The police officer at passport control may ask where you are staying.

Cash and a local SIM before you leave the building

The arrivals hall has cash machines and exchange desks. Take out some dirhams even if you pay us by card: motorway tolls, parking attendants, cafés and small shops often take cash only.

Phone operator kiosks in arrivals usually sell tourist SIM cards with data. Bring an unlocked phone and your passport, which is needed to register the card. A local number makes WhatsApp calls and maps on the road much cheaper.

Meeting us and checking the car

  1. 1

    Walk out of arrivals

Your driver stands at the exit of the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. If you can't see the sign, send us a WhatsApp message.

  2. 2

Short walk to the car park

The car is parked a few minutes away. We bring the child seat or fit the surf rack if you booked one.

  3. 3

    Look the car over together

We walk around the car with you and photograph any marks, the fuel level and the kilometres, so both sides have the same record.

  4. 4

    Paperwork and payment

You sign the rental agreement and pay in cash or by card. Nothing is blocked on your card.

The whole handover takes about 15 minutes. More about the service on our car hire Agadir Airport page.

Leaving the airport, follow the signs for Agadir. The road is mostly dual carriageway and runs through Ait Melloul and Inezgane, two busy market towns where grand taxis stop suddenly and carts share the road. Take it slowly there, especially at rush hour.

For Tamraght and Taghazout, carry on through Agadir and take the coast road north past Anza and Aourir. If you would rather not drive on your first evening, we can deliver the car the next morning instead: see car hire in Taghazout and car hire in Tamraght.

Arriving at night

We meet every flight, including the ones that land after midnight. Main roads between the airport and Agadir are lit, but side streets and the coast road beyond Aourir are not. If your hotel is in a narrow street or up a hill, share its location with us on WhatsApp and we will tell you where to park.

Tired after the flight?

Book your pick-up at your hotel the following morning and take an airport taxi on arrival. The car still costs the same, and delivery to hotels in Agadir, Tamraght and Taghazout is free.

Returning the car and flying home

  • Message us the day before with the time you will reach the airport. We meet you at the departures drop-off.
  • Plan to arrive 2 to 3 hours before an international flight. Bags are screened at the terminal entrance, then again after check-in.
  • Bring the car back with the same fuel level as at pick-up. There are fuel stations along the airport road.
  • We check the car together against the photos from day one, and you walk straight into the terminal.
  • Change leftover dirhams before passport control and keep your exchange receipts.

Questions and answers

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing changes for you. We track your flight number and wait, at no extra cost, however late it lands.

Can I pick up the car in the middle of the night?

Yes. We meet every flight, day or night, at the same price.

Can I return the car at the airport if I picked it up in Agadir?

Yes. Choose the airport as your drop-off when you book. Any fee for a different drop-off place is shown in the price before you confirm.

Do I need cash when I land?

Not for us: you can pay by card at pick-up. Cash is still useful for tolls, parking attendants and small cafés, so take some dirhams from a machine in arrivals.

Landing in Agadir soon?

Book your car now and we will be waiting at arrivals. Nothing to pay until pick-up.
